Enjoy a day with SA+C members, focused on craft at the Peabody Essex Museum. Join PEM’s Chief Curator, Petra Slinkard, on a tour of the Fashion and Design gallery, then go on a guided tour of the On this Ground exhibition with Curator, Sarah Chasse, then experience a unique opportunity to peak behind the scenes to see additional craft (not on display) and have a private luncheon!

- Meet at the Peabody Essex Museum.

- Take the MBTA commuter rail from North Station (9:24 am on the Newburyport/Rockport Line train, then a 5-8 minute walk to PEM).
10:00 Arrive at PEM and check coats and large bags. Gather as a group in the Atrium; coffee is available for

10:30 Tour with Curator, Sarah Chasse, of On This Ground in the American Gallery, followed by a tour with an overview of Weld and Seamans Galleries to view contemporary Japanese ceramics and glass
12:00 Private luncheon in the Crosby Gallery
1:00 Tour with Chief Curator, Petra Slinkard, of Fashion and Design Gallery, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour
2:15 official program ends, guests can explore the museum on their own or spend
time in the Museum Shop.
2:30 Board bus returning to Boston or take the train (2:54, 3:24 and 3:54)

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Gather with SA+C members at the Museum of Fine Arts for a tour of Toshiko Takaezu: Shaping Abstraction with Curator, Nonie Gadsden, the Katharine Lane Weems Senior Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture. Toshiko Takaezu (1922-2011) was a technically masterful and innovative artist best known for her ceramic sculptures, which she treated as abstract paintings in the round. Also, joining us in the gallery will be two apprentices of Takaezu.
4:00-5:30 Meet SA+C representatives at the main Huntington Avenue entrance, then proceed to Gallery 332 at the Art of the Americas wing; join the curator-led tour and talks by Toshiko Takaezu’s apprentices.
5:30 Gather at Taste Cafe, in the courtyard, in front of the main shop.
