After a tenure of 32 years, Derrick recently retired as Professor and Chair of the Communication Arts Department of Framingham State University where he was primarily concerned with theoretical principles and digital production methods. In purposeful contrast, his personal artwork involves wood and other common materials, employs tools and processes which are decidedly low tech, and result in unique and tangible objects.
Derrick has always been interested in classical forms, the ancient, the primitive, and the strange. Two of his most gratifying art connections are being part of the collections of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston) and the Peabody Essex Museum.
Please join us for a studio visit with Derrick Te Paske in Belmont. Derrick will give us a woodturning demonstration followed by showcasing the artwork in his home. Derrick also has artwork in the Societyās online CraftBoston: Jubilee show (from August 19 to October 16, 2022) and visitors will have the opportunity to see the work in person!
This studio capacity is limited to 12 attendees, so please register early to secure your spot.
