What makes a quilt a quilt? Is it the interwoven shapes and patterns? The piecing together of countless separate materials to make one cohesive whole? In her work, Laura Petrovich-Cheney explores these questions and more by creating wall-mounted quilts out of salvaged wood. Inspired by the destruction and loss caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Laura collects pieces of wrecked homes in order to piece them – and people’s memories – together in a new way. Take a closer look at Laura’s innovative approach to quilting and watch her demo right here or on our YouTube channel on August 12th! This event is free; don’t forget to RSVP below!
