Sea Turtle Tureen

This food safe Tureen is made with a stoneware clay. After the basic form is taken off the potters wheel, I alter in stages by pushing and stretching mostly from the inside. Sculpted details are applied individually. The tureen has a Sea turtle, small blue crab, sea star and shells on the lid. I use glass shards and a lava glaze that foams in the heat of the kiln to create watery textures.
