"Ms. Sage Grouse and the Woodcock" is a fiber piece that features freehand machine stitching and painting. A seated Sage Grouse woman is sewn/drawn on organza that is appliquéd and reinforce-stitched on to the vintage toile silk drape fabric. She sits on a manhole cover that is freehand machine stitched on felt. She sits opposite an American Woodcock that is also freehand machine stitched, creating color and depth by layering color threads. The woodcock also stands on another felt manhole cover. The entire pieced is stretched and adhered to a vintage half round, wooden embroidery hoop.
