By Turtle Island Pottery, Maggie Jones

Food safe and watertight. This stoneware tureen was started on the potters wheel then altered in stages by stretching and pinching. The blue crab, shells, starfish and other barnacles etc. where sculpted by hand and applied individually. This is a piece inspired by Palissy Ware and Minton Majolica. There are glass shards, sand and small pebbles from the beach incorporated into the decorations which resulted in a loose pebble under the crab. It is a rattle.
