“Perry”, a Small Green Bird

By Sally Prangley

I have made hundreds of these quirky wire + paper birds over the years, and somehow, each bird turns out different. I’ve found there is really no limit to the shapes and colors of wings, beaks, and topknots I give them. The bird body is made of tightly scrunched and woven annealed steel wire. The wings and beak are made with reinforced decorative papers “sewn” with a thread-like wire into shaped, wire outlines. Each bird comes with its own name. This bird is “Perry”. You can order a bird in different colors— just specify what you want in the “note to artist” section when checking out.
