This piece, composed of a deconstructed vintage silk bodice and over 100 flowers, may be installed in a variety of arrangements including vertical or horizontal orientation and engaging multiple surfaces of walls and ceilings. Created in homage of women’s lives as makers and wearers, the collage of textile elements symbolizes the continuous thread of lives lived. The title refers to ‘bodice ripper’ novels, a term for books about people searching for love. The joyful sprays of flowers evoke an optimistic idea of a future Garden of Eden constructed out of the debris of today.
