The last couple of years found my thoughts even more scattered than usual. The individual collage squares making up this quilt were an attempt to rein things in by sticking with simple circles and squares. Then they asked to be brought together in a single composition. I like to think of them as scattered thoughts lightly tethered to my center and held together by friends and family. And maybe more than a few zoom meetings … Companion music: Loosely by Ike Turner Hanging rod and nails included

About the artist

Emily was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI and transplanted to Boston where she immediately felt at home. After careers in science, marketing, and writing, she settled into life in fabric. She began sewing functional objects but was drawn to the decorative side of fiber and never looked back.
