Retail Gallery Sales Associate

Founded in 1897, the Society of Arts + Crafts has a dual mission: to advocate for American artists/craftspeople and to educate the general public about the importance of the arts.
In the past year, we have undergone an amazing transformation where we moved from 3,000 square feet on Newbury Street to a new 9,000 square foot home in Boston’s thriving Seaport District. We have also undergone a digital transformation. Our new systems are in various stages of being launched and we need a tech savvy colleague to help manage the transition. Our physical and digital moves have enhanced the ways in which we carry out our mission and we are excited about the future!

We are looking for a colleague to help run our retail gallery. S/he should be a creative, organized team player who excels at customer service and brings attention to detail as well as a sense of humor. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of retail experience in a museum or small shop.

The Retail Gallery represents the work of 200 of America’s finest artists and craftspeople working in ceramics, fiber, glass, metals, and wood. The Retail Gallery Associate will help identify work to be carried on consignment and will build relationships with the artists. S/he will manage and oversee online and in-store sales. S/he will help to curate high-quality spaces on and offline. Engaging with our visitors is an important aspect of the job that requires enthusiasm and knowledge about the artists we represent and the objects they make. Work hours and Salary
32 hours a week, Wednesday - Saturday from 10-6 and special events as required. Hourly rate is commensurate with experience.
